LIMPLEY STOKE PARISH COUNCIL
Planning permission is being sought for :-
Wingspan: To build a bedroom and alter the window construction in the
front of the house.
3 Lower Stoke: Appeal lodged to turn stone shed into holiday home.
Local Minerals Plan: It shows that there is much limestone under Hayes
and Hogswood wood and there are plans to develop the stone mine
further together with a new highway to the A36 and Midford Road. 18,000tonnes of stone are mined each year. The Parish Council is to ask for more details. Stone has been used for Buckingham Palace, Longleat and Windsor Castle because it is of high quality.
Speed through Lower Stoke: Concerns were again raised about the
dangers of the traffic and the feasibility of a 20 mph limit was discussed.
20 mphs are not enforced by the police, they must be self enforcing by
speed humps or chicanes. Wiltshire County Council have been asked as
a preliminary step to measure the traffic speed along the section of road
between the railway bridge and the Hop Pole. When actual traffic speeds
have been established, the problems and the available options will be
discussed again. The general opinion was that speeds were probably
under the 30 mph limit and that inconsiderate driving was the most likely
cause of the problem.
Jubilee and Trough Decoration: Would anyone who grows their own
seeds be willing to plant a packet of red, white or blue flowers ready for
decorating the trough opposite the Limpley Stoke Post Office. Others
could donate a plant in June (I am planting red nasturiums and white
geraniums). Please let me know if you could help. Agnes and Dave at the
Post Office have kindly offered to plant the stone fiowerbed in red, white
and blue.
