FRESHFORD VILLAGE NEWS REPORT FRESHFORD PARISH COUNCIL
Meeting September 2nd
THE PC approved the planning application for extension and alterations at Trees in New Road but objected to revised plans for resiting the garage at Fairlawn. We also strongly objected to the proposal for a triple garage with workshop over at Hermitage Cottage where Conservation Area rules apply in respect that any development should maintain or enhance the visual aspect of the area. It is important that everyone uses the Post Office services, especially now that pensioners and benefit recipients are offered the choice of payments directly to their bank accounts. In bypassing the Post Office, its existence could be put at risk. A new street lamp is to be erected along Sharpstone and a new lantern is o replace the old fitting at the lamp post by the school.
Meeting 7 October
PLANNING applications for the replacement of a car port with a garden room at West House, a replacement timber garage at Abbotsleigh and for the conversion of the shop at Freshford Antiques to be changed to residential use were approved by the PC. B&NES have approved the application at Trees. The PC is investigating the cost of providing a car passing place with a reinforced base along the Tyning. A new stretch of footpath has been provided from the Glebe footpath to join up with the footpath in Freshford Lane by B&NES, at the request of the PC. The PC has had to remove dumped garden rubbish along the footpath at the rear of the Glebe as it was a safety hazard to walkers. Please would village residents not use this area or the Tyning as a dumping ground for garden refuse and associated items. It is not fair that precept monies have to be expended by the PC because of this thoughtless action by residents. Green sacks are available to purchase from B&NES for garden refuse and it can also be taken to the Destructor site on the Upper Bristol Road. Pensioners and certain benefit recipients can claim a free compost bin from B&NES. You will need to place an order at the Council offices in Bath.
