Freshford and District Art Group
Sheena Broadhead Chronicle correspondent
If you enjoy painting and drawing, then Freshford and District Art Group would like to hear from you. The group, which has been in existence for more than 30 years, encompasses the neighbouring villages of Freshford, Limpley Stoke and Hinton Charterhouse, although they are keen to stress that anyone is welcome to join. At present the group meet in Limpley Stoke Village Hall on the first and third Tuesdays each month between 10am and noon. In addition, member Neil Mattingly has generously permitted the group access to his home's beautiful surroundings at Freshford Manor every second and fourth Tuesday. Expert tuition is on hand if required, especially for beginners who might benefit from some extra guidance, but most members prefer to work to their own style and pace. The artists paint with all mediums - watercolour, oil and acrylic - as well as with pencil and charcoal. Artist and group member, Peter Warren, said: "Ideally, we should like to be able to paint every Tuesday, but to do that we need sufficient membership to continue renting the village hall each week, which the annual subscription of £10 from each member pays towards." If you would like more details about how to join the art group, contact Peter Warren on 01225 722249.
