Court Case~ Anthony Methuen v Mary

2 May 1712 the Plaintiff purchases the Capital Messuage(Manor),
Mills and about 30 tenements(houses) with the appurtentes thereunto belonging
lying at Freshford in this County through which the River Avon there runs
of John Martin and Mary his wife . which said Mary was daughter and heir
to Edward Ashe, son and devisee of John Ashe her Grandfather who the 15
th October purchased part of these lands of one Henry Davison and other
part of the same lands he conveyed to the 4.. as aforesaid of one Robert
Dicke 1st August 1630 in which conveyances,fishing, fishing places, liberty
of fishing, Royalties, liberties, franchises to the same belonging are
granted especially in the conveyance of Davisons against and adjoining
to which Lands the River Avon runs those Lands with the fishery were granted
to the said Davison 45 Eliz(1603). The Plaintiff by his Servant had lain
one fish pot which the Defendants took up and took out of the said pot
several Eels and carried them off and also that the Defendant..endy fished
with a raft net at the Plaintiffs Mill tails called Freshford Mill Brook
in a boat where the Plaintiffs lay contiguous and opposite on both sides
and caught several Gudgeons the trespass as to taking the Pot and Eels
by the Defendant was notorious for they bid the Standers by take notice
