Miss Evnas Gift.
In 1945, Miss Evans, who owned the land on each side of the River mouth, gave the marsh and all that lay between the marsh and he property already acquired by the Parish Council to the Village on condition that it was left as it was, and no hut or other building (except under the Vineyard) erected on it, also the field on the cliff running from the river up to and including he Vineyard. Since the Village already owned the foreshore from 1936, this generous gift gave Charmouth almost complete control of the beach and the ground behind it.
